The Story of X and how to Market on it

Image
As we all know, Twitter was changed to X by Elon Musk. There are some very interesting points that came from Musk taking over and the name change. Some are bad, some are good for the future.     First off, when Musk purchased Twitter in 2022, fifty of the top advertisers were lost. After that disaster, Musk appointed someone else as the CEO in an attempt to gain back the advertising that was lost. When Musk changed the name, he clearly had visions of the future for X. He wants X to be a place of unlimited interactivity. His vision is something that isn't exactly for the near future, but it will be an interesting story to watch. Some think that X won't stick as the name, but Musk is unlikely to change it back.     In terms of popularity X is only the fourteenth most popular social media app in the world. Obviously, that isn't ideal for marketing, but there are other reasons to market on an app. For example, people spend 26% more time viewing ads on X compared to other

Boring Couple of Weeks

Image
The last few weeks have felt almost the exact same. The only time when things are different is the weekend. I guess this is how life is most of the time, but it's more obvious right now. I guess I feel this way because of what I do after school during the week. Pretty much every day I work out after class, go to practice for a bit if it's during the afternoon, work on homework and eat, then play videogames.      I'm not saying it's a bad thing to be in a routine, but after a while it starts to become a drag. This gives me a lot of reasons to be excited for spring break and getting a reset. My friends and I are going to a cabin near Gatlinburg by ourselves so that is going to be an awesome time. Even though I've been bored, at least there are a lot of things for me to look forward to.      With baseball season coming up for ONU it is tough watching others get excited. My brain wants to get excited but then I realize that I can't really impact the team at al

Marketing with Instagram

Image
Marketing with Instagram is one of the best ways to reach the younger generation. Personally, I've bought a couple things from advertisements that I see on Instagram, but not on other social media. There are a lot of interesting statistics that show why Instagram is one of the most important apps to advertise on.     First off, the largest age group is 18-24. This is a very important piece of information when considering the target market. Facebook isn't as prevalent among younger generations, so when you have a product that fits young people Instagram is the place to advertise.      Another statistic that I was a little surprised about is that Instagram is the third most popular social media app in the world. I knew it would be high on the list, but I didn't think it would be top three in the world. This further cements why it is such a good place to advertise. Instagram covers so many age groups and locations around the world.      An interesting and important statis

Going to Baseball Practice and Doing Nothing

Image
The process of going to practice and not doing anything is something you never consider when you are healthy. Especially when you are already out for the year like me. It is a completely different mindset and makes you appreciate being healthy even more.     First off, the baseball coaches are making it easier for me by giving me the freedom of choosing when I show up to practice. I can't really do any drills at all and wouldn't be able to help out much anyways. This gives me more time in my day to do important things like physical therapy. However, it does feel weird to see notifications for when practice is and hardly even thinking about it.      Now, when I do go to practice, I have a completely different mindset. Normally if I'm healthy, I am focused and don't talk much to others. But when I don't have anything to do, I am completely relaxed and just go around to talk to people. It is weird to think about how I am in the same environment but it's total

A few things Overlooked when Creating Content for Social Media

Image
There are many things to think about when you are marketing through social media. I'm going to talk about some key thoughts that most people may not consider or realize the importance of.      The first one is selecting which app to focus your social media marketing through. While a lot of companies utilize more than one, everyone has their most successful and reliable. There is plenty of thinking that goes on behind the scenes of selecting the site to conduct your work. It depends on what you are trying to advertise, some apps work better with different products or services. You have to consider who uses the app. For example, TikTok is mostly used by the younger generation, so if your target market includes the younger generation then TikTok would be a great place to advertise.      The next very important thing to think about is mapping out when to post on what site. It is recommended that you post more on certain apps like twitter because it is more of a casual app. Howeve

Cincinnati Reds Internship for the Summer

Image
I just got the news today I was offered a position for the Reds ticketing/gameday internship program for this MLB season. I applied last year for one remaining spot but didn't get it. This year, I applied on time and was more prepared for the interviews. Working for my favorite team is something that sounded so cool to me and would be an ideal spot for my career. Although this is a great start, I'll have to work hard to work my way up.     I got the call today, and I really thought I had a fifty-fifty shot at earning a position. I'm pretty sure that most interns they hire are already out of college or at least have more experience than I do. I am very excited to get the opportunity to learn more about what goes on when you work for the Reds.      A couple things that seem crazy to me is that I have the same work schedule as the team I watch every day. Another thing is that technically the Reds owner is my boss, which is pretty cool. I don't exactly know what to ex

First Experience Making a Podcast

Image
The first thing I thought about when making a podcast was how unique it is. It is meant to be people just talking about whatever they want while making sure it interests listeners. While you have to write down important topics and questions you want to cover during the podcast, you don't want to practice too much to make the conversation seem unnatural. This felt weird to me because I've only done formal presentations for schoolwork.     My podcast co-host Landon and I immediately decided we wanted to have one of our baseball coaches, Patrick Lavelle, be our guest. He runs the social media accounts for the baseball team and has past experiences at Ohio University.     When thinking about what topics to cover and questions to ask, we tried to connect the principles of social media with what we knew Coach Lavelle was good at. We concluded on the main topics as follows: How does social media apply to recruiting athletes and how to run a social media account for a team.     W

Life After Tommy John Surgery

Image
There are many things that change in your life when you can't use your right arm for much at all. Thankfully, it will get better, but there is still a while to go until my life is back to normal.      Before I got the surgery, I obviously knew that I wouldn't be able to do a lot of things for a while. Playing baseball being the most obvious. But after the surgery I realized there were many more things that would be a struggle.     One of the more annoying things was not being able to sleep on my stomach. I've slept like that for pretty much my whole life, so it was tough to find a comfortable position to fall asleep. Although the good news is that it is starting to get more comfortable to sleep on my stomach which makes my life easier. The next most annoying thing is getting things to open (especially for food). I was lucky enough to have my parents help me out for the first few weeks when we were still on break, but it is quite difficult to use only my left hand to c

Developing my Personal Brand

Image
Something that may be overlooked by a lot of people, me included, is personal brands. I do realize that it is important, and that your brand should represent your true self and how you want people to see you.      Something I hadn't considered, however, is looking into the future and where I see myself. Knowing what you want the future to look like is a key aspect in learning how to shape your personal brand. It's hard to say exactly where I see myself because situations can change very fast, but I would say working in the sport of baseball as some sort of analyst. I think I would really enjoy something like that and also be successful.      Another very important part in developing your brand and your way of life is your values. Although there are many great values, five values that are most important to me are: Family, friends, happiness, success and kindness. I think that those five values are the most important aspects of my life and will continue to be throughout my f
